Kcee, a Nigerian musician, has urged his peers to provide greater backing for the Nollywood movie sector.
He similarly encouraged his peers to back Nollywood actors by watching their films, joining forces with them, and sharing promotions of Nigerian movies on their social media profiles.
During a recent conversation with Hip TV, he placed the call.
The singer from Limpopo mentioned that actors back musicians by endorsing their tracks and participating in dance crazes, stressing that performers should also return this backing.
Kcee stated, “I believe it’s about time artists start supporting the film industry. Personally, for me, Kcee, those who are familiar with my work know that I only watch Nollywood movies. I am really passionate about them. Often, many people find this amusing.”
Additionally, I recall a woman contacting me lately about using my song ‘Cultural Praise’ in her film. She asked about the associated costs, but I granted her permission to use it at no charge. She would be able to confirm this. This kind of backing is appreciated.
We often aspire to feature movie stars in our music videos; similarly, some artists have appeared in films too. However, I believe we should go further. It’s essential for us to provide greater backing. For instance, promoting their movies through our social media platforms could be beneficial. At present, this isn’t something I’m actively engaged in either, yet supporting each other seems crucial. Occasionally, they collaborate with our initiatives spontaneously, so I feel it would not be inappropriate for us to reciprocate.
