The Computex technology expo in Taipei wraps up on Friday following a week brimming with bizarre yet amazing new product launches.
Euronews Next dedicated the week to scouring the exhibit for the most functional, stunning, and let’s be honest, the quirkiest technology announcements.
These were the highlights from the exhibition floor.
Handheld gaming
Gaming plays a huge role at Computex, hence, as expected, there were numerous exhibits showcasing this aspect.
A significant amount of attention has been drawn towards MSI’s enhanced Windows PC portable gadget, known as the Claw A8 featuring the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.
The device offers a range of vibrant hues and includes an integrated front-facing camera along with a microphone, giving players the flexibility to forego using a headset.
This device comes equipped with an impressive 80Wh battery and features a spacious display. Additionally, it appears to be the inaugural handheld console to utilize the premium Z2 Extreme processor, along with ample amounts of RAM.
There is no announced launch date yet, but this news arrives around the time when the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to hit the market.
A split keyboard
Although split keyboards aren’t entirely novel, one crafted explicitly for gamers is.
At the exhibition in Taipei, Asus showcased its ROG Falcata, a wireless keyboard designed with magnetic connectivity for easy attachment and detachment.
The primary purpose of this design is to provide gamers with extra room for their mice. Gamers may find the right side of the keyboard less useful since they primarily use the W, A, S, and D keys.
Alternatively, if not intended for gaming, you could simply separate the two sections for a more comfortable typing experience.
The launch date is confirmed for this summer, however, the cost remains undisclosed as of now.
The affordable smart ring
Although smart rings might come with a higher price tag (consider Samsung’s Galaxy ring, retailing at approximately €449, or
Ultrahuman’s premium 18-carat gold ring
, with prices around €2,000), Acer presents a more modest option.
The firm showcased a titanium smart ring priced at $199 (€175). Unlike numerous other companies, this one does not require any subscriptions.
The ring is available in black or rose gold and offers a battery life of four days. It displays health information including heart rate, sleep quality, and blood oxygen levels.
It’ll be up for sale this coming summer.
A beautiful laptop lid
The tech company MSI displayed an attractive laptop lid that appears as though it was hand-painted.
MSI collaborated with the Japanese art studio Okadayo to produce a limited-edition lacquer-printed laptop.
The artwork can similarly be applied to a computer mouse.
The initial design features Hokusai’s renowned work, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. For now, MSI plans to manufacture just a limited number each month due to the additional processes needed to incorporate the artwork into production.
All the computer cases
A key highlight at Computex was the extent of innovation displayed, with an abundance of strikingly attractive yet unconventional computer chassis catching everyone’s attention as a central theme.
A lot of these options featured vibrant designs with themes, while some included integrated beer and wine taps. Ultimately, it boils down to individual taste.
