Jet Li Silences Death Rumors With Joyful Family Time in New York

Actor Jet Li was seen spending time with his daughter Jada in New York, even though he has frequently been the target of false death rumors in recent years.

Dimsum Daily
, Li subsequently went to his Weibo page to share the update with his followers.

He mentioned, ‘My daughter joined me for a subway trip, a walk in Central Park, and we stopped for a hotdog when hunger hit.’ During a gentle respite, I genuinely found peace in these simple instances.’

In recent years,
rumors of his passing
have been circulating, with Li acknowledging that he faced health problems, such as being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.

Li, who is 62 years old, was born in Beijing, China. When Li was only two years old, his father died, which left the family facing financial difficulties.

By the age of eight, Li’s aptitude for Wushu was acknowledged during a summer program. He went on to win the national all-around championship title every year from 1975 through 1979. However, at 18 years old, he had to retire from competitive Wushu because of a knee injury. Subsequently, he took up a role as an assistant coach with the Beijing Wushu team, as reported.

Li’s achievements in athletics opened doors for him to become a prominent figure in martial arts movies. His acting journey began with the 1982 blockbuster “Shaolin Temple,” which broke box office records in China, raking in 161,578,014 yuan (approximately US$22.7 million) from around 500 million ticket sales. Its follow-up, “Kids From Shaolin,” reportedly sold about 490 million tickets, becoming the top-earning movie of 1984 in China.

In 1998, Li appeared internationally for the first time in “Lethal Weapon 4.” His filmography encompasses big-budget Hollywood productions such as “The Expendables” and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”

In 2011, he verified that he had acquired Singaporean citizenship, according to reports.
